So, what do you consider Philly to be, North or South?

i dont consider philly to be anything, it is a northern city, has always been a northerner city in its tone, lifestyle politics and location.

yankees have feels as do other people on the planet, so the point is here, if you as a yankee dont like the bashing done to you, it would be great if yankees dont do the bashing and ridiculing of our southern way of life and we all will be better for it.


everytime i say i am from South Carolina, i have people wanting to knwo about the Rebel Flag issue. I tell them its a States rights issue and the citizens have a right to vote what symbols, heritage and icons they want for their state. they are the ones making it about race and the civil war, i have lived in the northe20 years and i never once started a conversation about the civil war, but i dang sure ended alot of em.

I never bash anybody in the South, unless I am bashed first. It's a pointless argument. We all have our faults. None of us are without sins.

What's with the museum down there and how come so much uproar?

i went to a new england Ivy league University, and for the 4 years if people found out I was from the south they made it a point of making southern jokes about the movie "Deliverance" or that we eat lots of pork products, or eat Catfish and that our educational system is backwards.

i have to explain to them that the American culture would be nothing without Art forms created in the south like Jazz, Blues, Country and Rock. That writers like Faulkner, Williams, Wright and Welty and Capote are all southern. that we gave the world artists like jasper johns. I have to explain that more southerners have become Presidents than any other region, and that our public schools(not that i am a fan of them at all i am not) are no worse or better, esp if we are competting with inner city schools of chicago, detroit, philadelphia and boston

I don't see any bumper stickers up here suggesting otherwise. Maybe people in the North don't feel the need to advertise such ridiculous feelings about a war that ended over 100 years ago.

I have to agree with that. They are pretty bad. So sad for kids that have to attend them by no choice of their own.
