I suppose we all experience things differently in life.

yes but you arent saying why are southerner treated the way they are, all these people on here keep telling you and yet you keep ignoring that and only saying what you have experienced. therefore the point is moot because you asked an original question that you didnt care what the answer would be, you came with a closed mind--thats the arrogance we hate about Yankees and maybe why they deserve the bashign they get

I love when a yankee tries to preach to southerners about racism and rednecks and equality. go to any rural place in the north and its no better than our rural poor hollers in the south, and no worse either. Vermont had more dirt roads than any other state in the Union, and not one big city. they eat woodchucks and put cardboard on their house for siding. but thats just one thing, go to southside of chicago or detroit or philly and you would think you are in Beirut lebanon or some 3rd world city, the difference would be the 3rd world would be getting up and finding a way to make a living and not waiting for a hand out

Wow. Now see that's what I meant about being stereotypical. Not all Yankees are arrogant, and all Southerners are not ignorant.
As far as Philly, Detroit or Chicago goes, nobody sits up hear waiting for a handout. If they are, they'll be waiting a long time. There is no money left. A lot of people have left for greener pastures. Where ever that may be. The ones that have decided to stay are a lot stronger because of it.
Like the old saying goes; what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Not nice. This is an example of trolling, peacechild. You asked, then you egged people on, then you make comments like this.
What's with the 72756 zipcode by the way?

i figured he or she was trolling, as soon as we started answering the question honestly, they he or she tried to change the subject and didnt want us telling what our experience was from Yankees, so it is either a troll or an adolescent youth

Nobody is trolling. I'm not like that. Just asked a question and obviously some of you have a hard time with us. I don't think I will ever understand it.
Saying people in Detroit, Philly or Chicago are just waiting for a handout is not being arrogant?

asking a question means that you listen to the answer and dont just ask a question with the answer already formulated in your head and yes we do have hard time with some of you.
saying what it going on in those cities and its reported on everyday in the media , is not being arrogant, it is being accurate. pick up the washington post or new york times and read it for yourself, or better yet use the internet and check out the unemployment rates in those cities , the crime rate in those cities, the drug and homeless rates and the dismal failures of the public school systems in them. when a city school like the one in Camden NJ couldnt graduate more than 10% of their senior class, or when only 50% of the student body drops out of HS in Philly, i would call that a problem. and the people on the welfare systems in those state are appalling then yes its not arrogant, its telling what is.
i will end the bashing question since you are not going to listen , i agree with you, I dont like most Yankees, they deserve what they get. and if I am angry, then so be it, Im angry that their ghettos and their people are a drain on the entire country

I don't have to read it in the newspaper or look it up on the internet. I am living there. You say you're in Philly? Then you are obviously a drain on the economy also.
For one thing we don't have welfare in this state they way it used to be. Yes, there is still some Medicaid left for people, but cash assistance has been gone for years that some depended on years ago. Some still get some cash, but hardly any. I live here, so I know.

I think that a most of the dislike of Yankees comes from the media imitation of Southerners. For example, the easiest way to make someone look like a complete fool is to give them a Rebel flag. They automatically become a racist, a bigot, a fool, a hick.....the list continues. I'll bet that there are very few Yanks who even know what the flag was created to represent. Most think that it is the symbol of slavery.
The other method that is used is adding in a Southern drawl. The guy/girl with the drawl is always less intelligent than anyone else in the movie/tv show. Therefore, as most of these movies/shows are based in Northern cities, and most of their characters are from those cities, it definitely looks like a Northern superiority complex.
