thanks jenni appreciate it. Would have any general sort of idea what the going rate would be for a single apartment in hillcrest? I know its a tough thing to gauge, but as long as it was kept under 800 month i could probably manage it.

well im looking at prices on the internet to get a general idea and it looks like the going rate is between 400-600 dollars for a nice one bedroom there which is unreal compared to here.

Let's see, there's a couple of 2BRs in the paper today, one for $625, one for $565. So it seems $800 would definitely be do-able!
Xpost! Yes, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the rents here.

Latent racism is so easy to see - not even trying to hide it are you? Every spent anytime in the neighborhoods around UALR? I mean really spent some time? Not just riding through, hitting your doorlocks when you come to a traffic light.
I lived in Broadmoor across from UALR for eight years and never, ever had a problem. In that time, there have been murders in the Heights and Hillcrest, rampant car break-ins in Leawood, and home invasions in west Little Rock. All the while, Broadmoor was quiet. The same could be said for the Oak Park area near Fair Park.
So let's just say it - if you don't like brown people don't live south of I-630. That's what you really mean - be honest with yourself. Just don't think you are more safe north of I-630 though.

who and what responsdent are you referring to? I hate to see racism brought up on 1/2 the threads...
I guess someone gave an opinion that didn't set well, but I think the OP is asking for opinions...

To be honest, it does often seem like that's the unspoken implication to me too.

"The area around UALR can be shady, but I wouldn't recommend living there anyways unless you are a student living on-campus."
I will agree there are some areas "around" UALR that are notorious for crime. However, the statement above is a blanket generalization (probably not based on any real data) and besmirches the entire area.
"In any case, I wouldn't really recommend living by UALR unless it was off University in the neighborhood behind Park Plaza."
Again, have you lived in the area or known someone who has? Or is this person basing that statement on stereotypes or just a general aversion to low to moderate income neighborhoods filled with diverse ethnic groups.
Just after the start of 2009 there was a group of robbers moving through the Heights pulling the wheels off of vehicles. Didn't happen around UALR.
I found Broadmoor to be really safe, affordable, and full of people interested in taking care of their homes and looking after their neighbors. Also, centrally located and no long commute from the burbs just to live around "others" more similar in skin tone to myself.

As a "brown person" I know the little comments people make about certain parts of Little Rock and North Little Rock.
In any case, I know people who have lived and currently live around the UALR area.
I have no problem living around a diverse group of people, in fact I'd love it. Gay, straight, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, biracial, multiracial, middle class, low class....who care? As long as I don't have to worry about my property being damaged, I'm cool.

And this thread shows precisely why people in Little Rock, generally speaking, rock.
(Speaking of most recent comments.)
