And after living my whole life in places where I was a minority (Washington DC, Oakland CA, San Jose CA and other parts of the Bay Area), it's familiar and reassuring that almost everyone here shares a similar heritage to me. (British Isles & German in my case.)
In my new little haven in the Ozarks, I want things to stay JUST LIKE THEY ARE.
Or maybe even "just like they are," but MORE SO.
So instead of asking "How do we want things to be and how do we get there?" I'll be asking myself, "how can I preserve this?"

You should hook up with TxDave. He'll show you tons of rude people.
Just kiddin'.
I don't know what part of North Central you settled in, but I have been over the majority of the area and have never had a problem
Yes, the people are friendly. Sometimes to a fault. There have been a number of times that the wife and I have stood in a grocery store aisle, engaged in conversation with someone we have never met, and will probably never see again, but at that moment we are "old friends".
As you go through these posts, you will see many objections to the experience that you, and I, and many others have had.
I think these people get up every morning and start the day with, "DARN!! It's sunny/cloudy/rainy/warm/cold....."
Bah humbug....
I've seen parts of Arkansas I like more than other parts, but as of now, I haven't seen one that I don't love in it's own light.
