We are road tripping from San Antonio to Michigan and have determined the Texarkana area to be a good distance away for our first stop. We have never stopped here before though!
Are there any hotels you would recommend?
Are there any neighboring cities (up to 30 miles in either direction) that might be better?

There are several nice motels around the Mall of Texarkana between Richmond and Summerhill roads,and most of them are fairly new. There are also a bunch of restaurants in that area. This is just east of the US 59 and I-30 interchange BTW.

Traffic around there is pretty bad IMO,but you should be used to that!

might want to try the Holiday Inn Express in Mt. Pleasant TX. With all the road work in Texarkana even I dont like driving down there at the moment.
