Is the old pickle company still there? In my routes with Arkla Gas back in the early 80s I would drive through Atkins quite often.

The sad thing is, I can't seem to find Atkins pickles in the DFW area.

PS. There was also a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in Atkins that was outstanding. Can't remember the name but I wonder if it's still there.

The pickle plant in Atkins closed in 2002. Dean Foods, which had owned the plant for the last few decades, cited the decline in the amount of cucumbers grown in the area, resulting in higher costs to ship them in from other areas, as the reason for the closure.

We bought our first house in Atkins and used to walk to the little bitty drivein for the fried dill pickles as a special treat. Wonder if the drivein is still there? Sure wish I had that recipe! Too bad about the pickle factory. We heard that it was burned down?

I remember buying Atkins pickles when I lived in Missouri. I don't know if they are out of business of just moved to a different location.
