I would take Grandview Gloria's advice....buy a little land outside of PB (in that nice little rural area I told you about earlier in the thread), move one of the old houses out to it, and fix it up! (That is, if you are so inclined....sounds like you are still young enough to take on a project like that....I always wanted to do something like that but now I'm too old and tired.)

I am young enough to do it, but living in central Arkansas is not in my long-term plans.

Ahhh, I see....well, that's good, I was feeling really sad for you, having to move from NW Arkansas to Pine Bluff.

Probably White Hall is your best bet, then.

Fort Smith to Pine Bluff. Frying pan into the fire.

Not because of what anyone else has said, but after sleeping on it I have turned down the offer and plan to stay in Fort Smith. The cons of moving to the area outweigh the pros.

[left]PB CRIME PRESENTS CHALLENGES

By Ray King/OF THE COMMERCIAL STAFF

Pine Bluff has one of the highest crime rates for comparably sized cities anywhere, according to City-data.com, which contains buckets of statistics on all cities — large and small — in the country.
City-data.com reports that the crime index from 1999-2007 for Pine Bluff averaged 884, which is more than two times the national average of 321.

Hot Springs ranked right behind Pine Bluff with 838 average crimes per 100,000 people, West Memphis has 778 and North Little Rock 763.

Something nice about Pine Bluff: There is a new interstate, you can get out quicker than in the past.

The only problem is that the new interstate brings you in "Pine Bluff North" aka Southwest Little Rock.

Yes, he was a very popular player when he was with the Minnesota Twins.

The Minneapolis Tribune did a big article on his life growing up in Pine Bluff.

I guarantee you nobody living in Minnesota would choose Pine Bluff after reading that article about Hunter and Pine Bluff.

crime,crime, and more crime

It's people like you why race relations in this country are having a hard time healing.
If you're white, go live in a part of Pine Bluff where you're the only white person on the block. Then talk to them about "healing". See what happens. Some black people don't like white people just because they're white. This happens with every color and creed. Even though media coverage likes to put the white on everyone else racism on television, a lot of other races simply don't like each other.

It's nice to think that we can all hold hands across the isle these days. But reality tells us it isn't going to happen.

Sometimes a lower paying job living in a place you feel safe is better than being scared of having your belongings stolen or your person threatened in a place with a high crime rate. Stats don't lie. And frankly, you pointing your finger at someone just because they don't want to live somewhere is silly, because frankly, it isn't any of your business.
