Wife grew up in Fay and I lived there for 4 yrs. Left in 1985, visited until 1993.
We are considering retiring there, but want to be in an older area, close to downtown or campus. Any suggestions? What will $300K get us? I know other areas in AR are known for retirement, any ideas on how Fay will be?

Sinstars - if you haven't visited Fayetteville since 1993 then you are in for a surprise! The whole NWA area has just exploded in growth over the last 10 years.

$300k will get you a nice (but not restored) bungelow in the historic areas off the square, around Dickson street or around Wilson Park. Fayetteville is a great family community that is alive with activity ... and I would think would be a great place for active retirees. Another option just 30 minutes north on I-540 is Bella Vista which is a retirement community with many retiree focused amenities and a bit slower pace.
