Peter, now I am reading more of your questions. I do hope you hear something today, good luck.
Football, here, like everywhere starts depending on who they are playing and whether they are at home or away..What to do? There isn't a lot to do in TOntitown, but Fayetteville has lots of bars, clubs and the usual entertainment, with lots of country and western influence.

country and western music, lot life style. I hope most of us know Fayetteville is about the most diverse area in AR. I guess we can safely say, most of AR music is based country and western. Or at least the parts I have been to, I haven't spent much time, if any in SoEast or along the eastern border period.

Hopefully, next week I might hear something from Driver Solutions. I don't know for sure what decision to make yet. From everyone personal experiences and talked about, Arkansas does sounds interesting and about the same as every state. I mean by, jobs unemployment rates, laws, accidents all the time, etc.. Heard it's cheaper over there, than here for renting or buying a house or apartments. More safer also, just by people advices. Places are close to where you are. (Shopping centers, Resturuants, etc...)
Arkansas is something I'm looking forward to. Why I want to drive that far, is because of a trucking career there. (If things goes smoothly and planned) Most of my family and friends are in Pennsylvania. Virginia Beach is getting far worst dangerous, unemployment rates are high and is soo difficult to get a second job to stay alive. Of course, that's everywhere. Plus, I'm looking forward on changing my life and eventually, I will move back home in PA. Hopefully in 2 more years.
So, hopefully I will have better luck in Arkansas. Could only try and hope for, right. What are the gas prices there at the moment? Here in Virginia, it's $2.45/gal

Gas prices are the exact same here as they are there.

Heard of it?
I went to the crossroads before Morgan Freeman ever knew it existed and plopped that restaurant in.
I *still* got hellhounds nippin' at my ankles.
They're going to find Robert Johnson's fabled "lost" 30th song in time to play at my wake.

Well, haven't heard anything yet from that trucking job in AR. I'm still hopeful. While I make preparations, sure like to keep this conversation going atleast til' I hear anything from Driver Solutions or PAM Transport.
What kind(s) of entertainments are there in AR? perferablly in Tontitown area or surrounding areas. Might not have time to enjoy them though, but there will be a day off in between runs. Consider that OTR truckers must have a 34 hours off duty (restart) after 70 hours driving and On-Duty combined is up.

trucking jobs in ar.
If you do not hear on that job in Tontitown, You might do a search on the Fayetteville shale. I drive from Little rock up hwy 65 north toward Harrison often and I see signs all along from Clinton, ar to Marshall looking for drivers for various trucking job in that area, call a certain #, and i'm sorry i do not have the #. So, i figure you can research the 5 or so gas drilling companies that are hiring drivers. This a large thriving gas drilling area in north west ar.
They are paying very well to drivers from what i hear.
Lots of exploreing to be done around northwest arkansas, one of my favorite things to do is get an off road map and a gps and see were the road takes me. Lot of great little towns like Eureka Springs, ar. to explore.
Good luck.

I drove for USA Truck out of Ft. Smith--due to family circumstances, I had to quit and moved back west for several months. So, I cannot really tell you anything about them--for the time I was with them, however, they seemed to run several short trips so some of the drives that I kept in touch with from orientation where not real happy. If you want to run and run hard and understand the driver/dispatcher relationships, SWIFT will run you hard. They are an entry-level company (at least back in '06). One the to remember about trucking: you are the pilot of your vessel and it's your hiney out there on the line--DOT, accidents, etc... If you are an OTR driver, then you it really does not matter where you live. Any company typically provides you with 14 days on/2 off or 21 days on/3 days off, etc... Usually maxes out around 4 days. If you have not heard back from the recruiter, don't fear--call them! With the economy in dissaray, they are likely just overwhelmed with gathering data and placing drivers with the most experience--I'm assuming here Anyway, I honestly would not be too concerned with where you live because you will spend most of your time on the road if you art OTR. Now, if you are a local driver, that's a whole 'nother kettle of fish. Good luck!
