Exclamation New to Bella Vista.....NEED TO MEET FRIENDS

We just moved 2 months ago from Los Angeles. I love it here...I gotta admit I am still trying to get used to the bugs. I am rejoicing at the little trafficthat being said my son just started school and I got to experience school traffic. I would like to start meeting people it's always harder when you move to somewhere new to meet folks. I have looked at some Mom sites but to be honest when I get the chance to be out it would be nice to just be adults. Any suggestions?

Thanks

of course the best way, I am sure you know is joining mommy type groups or getting your son involved in sports. Another way? Church, no matter what your religion you will find a church here or in Bentonville and most do have young couples groups or certainly young couples attending. There also are so many volunteer groups in our area. How about talking to the libraray, they are always looking for voluneteers and have some younger people doing just that. Of course one of the biggest promblems, if you are a stay at home mom, there are not a lot of them so you are a little more limited.

I think the hardest thing in the world, when re-locating is making new friends and having someone to have coffee with. I remember the first time we were transferred, about 40 plus years ago. We moved from Los Angeles area to the bay area and I was a stay at home mom with 3 little ones. If anyone came to the door, like the insurance guy, I invited them in for coffee, if they agreed, I wouldn't let them leave until they literally pushed me out of the way and ran. Well, not quite, but I did love the company. Luckily a few months later, when school started I got involved with PTA, from then on there was no stopping my involvement. I still have lots of friends from those days.

Thanks for responding. My oldest is in 2nd grade and youngest is home with me three days a week. I did join St. Bernards parish last week so I am hoping to make connections that way. I appreciate your input perhaps i will look into volunteering and perhaps finding a walking buddy.

Well the church is certainly big enough and active enough to offer you a way to meet people. Good luck,

Nita

Meet.com is another way to make friends - just put in your zip and your interests (dog or breed - biking, kayaking, cooking, dining out etc - they may even have one for newcomers not to mention new moms, etc - you may have to expand your radius (mileage) but I'm sure they're out there).

Hey, welcome to Arkansas! Bella Vista can be a hard place to meet people, so I recommend going south into Bentonville/Rogers. Check out Barnes and Noble, Pinnacle Hill Shopping Center, Kennedy Coffee and the local parks. I know that Bella Vista has a great sand park down by Lake Bella Vista that always have lots of moms. Benton County has the more home schoolers than any other county in AR, so you'll probably find some mothers of kids your son's age there too. I've been in 5 other states and AR is my favorite and we finally just came back a few months ago because even without amazing grocery store and zoos and whatnot, it's still the best place to live

why would you say, BV is a hard place to meet people? We have found it just the opposite..

There is nothing like a mom or anyone that loves college football. You better be routing for the Hogs as well as whatever other teams you like. We have been waiting since last Jan for yesterday to get here.
