As many of you already know, we have been looking to make a move from our current Arkansas location to NWA, particularly Bella Vista. I had talked with a Realtor about how real estate taxes seemed to be higher there than in my current town (no big deal as they are still reasonable), and was told that Benton County was about to do a reassess of properties and lower the taxes. Now I know sometimes when people are trying to sell you something they will say anything to do it, that being said...has anyone else heard about this? I figure it isn't true, but was curious all the same.

Washington county just did it so I wouldn't be surprised if Benton county followed.

Benton County did an adjustment on property values earlier this spring. The overwhelming majority of the new assessed values were lowered in response to the housing market problems. However, the county did not mail out revised assessments when the re-appraisals were completed. Property owners can access the assessor's site to see the new, lower assessments, (and print them out for financial purposes) or they can wait until next year when the assessments are regularly mailed out.
