Default Fayetteville business district?

Hi guys!

Well, last Saturday, I did a whirlwind trip to Fayetteville while I was visiting Springfield, MO. I figure I was in Fayetteville for about 3 hours. Went to shop at the farmers' market and look at some housing to the east of town. We came into town on 412 and decided to see what the freeway looked like. On the way out (north) of town, I saw a sign that said the Fayetteville business district. Is this a totally distinct area away from the square? I didn't have time to detour to check it out, so what is up there? Is it a warehouse/business district, or it a more commercial (ie shops and stores) type of area?

Thanks!

If you were heading north on 540 then the business district would be the area around the mall.

I know the sign he's talking about and actually think that it's 71B, which is pretty much all of College Avenue (because there are businesses all along it).

The Fayetteville Business District on the bypass leads to Hwy 71B north toward the Mall, Lowe's, and Springdale, and south along College Avenue which are all businesses the entire length of town. You missed the most part of Fayetteville by not driving College Avenue. Then there's the new part which is west on Joyce and Steele Blvd. Oh and Gregg Street from the bypass to the University. Oh and 6th Street which is now Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, oh then there's Crossover and Mission area...come back spend about 3 days exploring.

Jim,

Actually, we did do College Ave., my wife may look at a job with the VA hospital which is where I went to first to take a look. Also, cruised along 6th for a bit. I agree about the three day trip, this was just a whim while I was in Springfield for three days.

There is really nothing of note along 6th. It's not like 6th Street in Austin. College and Dickson would be about it.
