Sharp County, Arkansas
I may be relocating to Sharp County, Arkansas, from the Seattle area... I am a bartender and trying to find something close to Cherokee Village! I realize that Sharp County is 'Dry'... Where should I be looking? Thanks much!

Here's a map of Wet/Dry Counties:
http://www.arkansas.gov/dfa/abc_admi...bcadm_map.html
Hope this gives you a bit of help until someone more familiar with the area replies.
Welcome to the neighborhood...we'll be moving to the area here in a month or so.

According to the TN thread, people are flocking to NE TN for relocation.
Been to both, both are nice.
Just wondering what " tipped the scales" in your decision to re-locate to AR.

Hi marmac!
Over the last 22 years, here in the Middle TN area, I've watched the countryside and farmlands turned into McMansions and other subdivisions. The prices of property has sky-rocketed from when I first moved here.
We were in an accident on Feb. 4, 2007 and we just had our settlement money come in. After paying off the Sportster and the car, we decided it was time to quit paying rent and to find a place to call our own. I just couldn't see using any of the money to continue to live here as our little area of rural heaven is going to be invaded with a Dollar Store across the street.
We made a trip to AR, back in June, to see if my Mom would sell us a few acres. That didn't work out but a few days later, she found an ad for 8+ lightly wooded, level to gently rolling acres. We went back out there to see the land, found out from the realtor that it was actually two 8+ acre tracts and that he really wanted to sell them together. We made an offer of $3,000 down, $300 a month and he accepted. The fact that the land is owner financed was a big part of our decision, besides the fact that the land is ideal for our mini-farm (rabbits & chickens).
Skip has been unemployed since last Thanksgiving, there are just no jobs in this area. He has talked to two cabinet shops out in AR and both are interested in hearing back from him once we get moved out there.
For a gal that dislikes change, this is one I'm looking forward to!

That is what many would have happen here if given their way. I have said several times in threads that I pity the fool that puts a golden arches sign between me and the sunset.
There is much call for what some people term, "progress", in AR, but to me that is a very subjective word.
As mentioned earlier in this thread, oh yeah...we've got areas with McMansions, and we have areas with the exact opposite of that. We have the same views, we shop and eat at the same places, the difference is we don't curl our lip because somebody's got well-worn boots and a hole in their jeans.
When one is in a position where they say, "I'm really sick of this, and this palce here is much, much more to my liking", it gets more than a little frustrating when people clamor to turn it into the place you just escaped from.

Amen, RogMar!
I am so looking forward to finally setting my roots down in my own dirt. I love the fact that the neighbors aren't right on top of us but close enough that if any of us need help, we're right there.
I'll miss it here in general but not where we at right now. We've got a fire-bug running loose through the "neighborhood" and he's gotten too close to home, too many times. First time was an old truck just across the road from our driveway, the latest was a new double-wide mobile home, two weeks ago, just 3 acres away (as the crow flies).
