Default News Paper Ads

We have just purchased property around Melbourne Arkansas, and wanted to know is it normal in that area to build a storm sheltar there, and if there are local links to view news papers for help wanted ads?

I'm close to Melbourne, and, yes it is common to install storm shelters (usually called "hidey holes").

I don't know if you're familiar with the Super Tuesday tornado that went through here, but pretty much anybody that didn't have a shelter got one after that.

The state of Arkansas will reimburse you up to $1,000 for a FEMA spec shelter, which means it has to have three hinges on the door, three locking nechanisms on the door, and covered on 3 sides with dirt.

As far as local links for jobs...nope.

There's a web site for Arkansas jobs where you can select the county you're interested in.

However, as far as Melbourne goes, unless you want to work in one of the food establishments, you better have one of two last names.

Not much in Cave City, but Batesville, a little further down the road offers quite a bit.

Now, you may get lucky at one of the banks, but that's a, "Don't give up" kinda thing.

Although I have a lot of friends in Melbourne, do a lot of business there, and enjoy socializing there, it's not exactly open to folks that don't have the same accent.

However, once you're in....you're in.

Get to know as many folks as you can, go to the Burger Center and the Pit Stop (formerly hawgs) to eat on a regular basis and talk with folks, join the Talley Ho ($10 a year), figure out the two last names and do some shopping at their businesses or drop in and chat....then you've got a pretty good chance.
