Moving to Arkansas...
Hi,
I'm moving to Wiseman, Arkansas from Indiana sometime this winter or spring. I've never been there before... My dad's family is moving, but I'm going to be the first to make the journey. I'm going to be living with my future step mom and I'm going to start college in Melbourne I think it is. I was just wondering if anybody could tell me what to expect once I move to Arkansas or if anyone has any tips about meeting new people or anything in general.
Thanks,
Jessica

Well, I'm a college student myself, although I'm at a larger university in the central part of AR. I don't really know much about that area of the state. It seems to be a very small town (and I do mean very small, haha) so I would participate in as many college functions as I could to meet people. You're about 70 miles from Jonesboro, which is about 50,000+ people, so you may take a visit or two there. Just expect hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling to be the biggest things there in terms of the popular culture. If that's your thing, well, you're in business. It'll be typical small town life, but at least you have an outlet with your college.
By the way, if you have any questions about relocation as a student, let me know. I've moved to 7 different states during my 24 years of life, haha (including Indiana)

You'll meet a lot of people at Ozarka, it's a good school.
Not much hapening around Wiseman.
Not really much happening in Melbourne.
However, once you get started and make some friends, you'll find where everybidy hangs out and where they go.

Where at in Indiana? I've lived in just about every part of the state in my 20 years...though I've never had to worry about moving somewhere new while I was in school.
I'm pretty used to the small town life style..I live quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Everybody here hunts and fishes and rides 4-wheelers so I guess some things won't really be changing. Its just different I guess..I've lived in Indiana my whole life and never really thought I'd be leaving until now lol.
And as for going to school at Ozarka, my dad's fiance told me it's pretty good. I think she got her LPN there.
And once I get settled in and can actually figure out where I'm going without needing a GPS (lol...I get lost easily) I plan on making a few trips to some of the bigger towns. I'm used to living in a small town, but I'm also within a hour and a half of 3 or 4 big cities so there's almost always something to do...
Thanks for the tips

Well that's good. I think it'll be the same deal as Indiana, just different accents. Just don't make fun of the way people talk and you'll be just fine, haha, which I'm sure you won't.
I lived in Seymour, Indiana as a little kid. Very short time, though. It was really cool to live in John Mellencamp's hometown for a while, haha, even though I was 5-6 years old and barely remember it.

That's crazy. I lived in North Vernon, IN [next town over from Seymour] for about 9 years and I live in Norman, IN right now which is by brownstown..so i'm still around seymour. And right now I actually live about 35 mins from where John Melloncamp now lives in bloomington, in.
I'm kind of excited about moving..right now anyway, but I bet i'm gonna be real nervous when it gets closer to time. And I'm really shy so meeting new people isn't always my strong suit lol. Maybe it'll be fun though...guess i'll see..

Come to Fort Smith! There's a lot more to do and the college is cheaper! 45mins from the Razorback stadium and more shopping. I love it

Nope. Diamond field/mine is near Murfreesboro, which is in the southern half of the state.
