Does this matter? This is property I want to retire to from busy Dallas area.

That is a very deep subject. They are probably "captive" growers, which means that they are at the mercy of the company they work for, especially the big 5. If they'te captive, the economy can fail to exist, the still have to produce chickens/eggs for the company.
Might want to check this article on Prairie Grove:
PRAIRIE GROVE'S CANCER QUESTION
and google a few others to get an idea of the *huge* problem that lies there.
Now saying that, I live pretty close to some sizeable chicken farms.
I am a little on the far side as far as having my water tested, and have it checked for many things in a forensic lab at Little Rock, where I have to have the samples 3 hours after a sterile draw (stored on ice), and no small cost, believe me.
My water, although full of mineral, has always been perfect.
The chicken litter? Yeah, it stinks.
I have neigbors that spread it, and if you're down wind you are definately going to know it for a day. I have one neighbor that goes particulary sterile when someone spreads, but she ain't paying for triple 13 for 500 acres at a a time, so nobody listens.
If you check around much, you'll see that a lot of the chicken growers were "suckered" in by the companys with a promise of an extra $30k a year with virtually no work.
They moratage their farms, put up the buildings, sign on, and there they are.
It's work, believe me.
I noticed around here the chicken farms that got removed in the super turesday tornado didn't rebuild.
Hmmmmmm.
