Default Hot Springs...good place to visit?

I've only recently heard about Hot Springs and from what i've seen in photos it looks like a pretty scenic city. I'm trying to work a drive through the city sometime but i'd like some local opinion first, perhaps a good place to eat or a good hotel or even tourist attractions?

I don't live in HS but I do visit there often. There are so many possibilities I suggest you do a Web search. Many good places to eat and many ethnic foods. Hotels/Motels, as in most towns, run from one end of the scale to the other. Sun Bay Inn has a good reputation and is kinda "middle of the road".

I highly recommend the Comfort Suites. We stayed there last month and it was great. It is rated #1 on tripadvisor...go read the reviews (including mine).

As far as attractions, I visited with my husband and kids so we did mostly family-centered activities. I would recommend a drive to downtown Hot Springs and lunching there...not sure of the restaurants but I'm sure others could recommend some local hotspots. You should definitely visit the Hot Springs Mountain Tower and also drive up further to the top of the mountain for a great scenic view of the city and photo op. It was one of the highlights of my trip.

If you are there at the right time you could go to Oaklawn and bet on the ponies.

Since I've newly moved to Hot Springs, I'm doing the touristy thing getting to know my new home. So far I'm having a good time. Downtown is fun to wander around. They've put up the Christmas decorations and it looks great. There are interesting shops and antique stores to browse through. The bath houses are fun to walk through. Oaklawn starts in January. I've been lost a couple of times but I didn't mind because the drive is so beautiful.

If you do end up visiting, I recommend Staybridge Suites.

The Garvan Woodland Gardens will have some holiday decorations up, I recommend visiting that.

I can't really recommend good places to eat because when my girlfriend and I visited, we just had Papa John's pizza and stopped at Wal-Mart for food to eat in our hotel room such as popcorn and such.
Hot Springs has chain restaurants as well as some locally owned restaurants.

I stayed at the Lake Hamilton Resort a few years ago and I loved it. Indoor swimming pool! Only down side is that it's kind of far from downtown main street, but not that far.

opens Jan 17th and we will be there: Corn beef sandwhiches .50, but of course after you make a few wagers, if you don't cash a winning ticket, the half buck sandwhiches will seem like $20.00...

I haven't found a good place to eat as of yet except a Chinese buffet on Central across from Kroger. I have to say if I have any complaint about Hot Springs that would be it. Warning: there is an additonal 4.25% tax for any restaurant making the tax rate 11.25% to eat in any restaurant including fast food restaurants.
