Default What's important

My husband & I looked at several areas before we decided on Mountain Home. I have lived many places in the U.S. & there is no perfect place. Pick a place that has the ameneties you find important. Me? I want to go hiking in the woods with my dogs. Yes, I know there's wildlife. I lived in Conifer, Colorado where I chased elk out of my yard every morning & avoided certain trails in order to stay away from the mountain lion. Culture? Hmmm, well I checked the local library catalogue & they have authors like Laurell K. Hamilton so they can't be all that fundamentalist. You don't get much more out there than a nymphomaniac vampire killer. So I think we'll be happy in Mountain Home, the place is what you make of it. BTW, I have a post-graduate degree, a license to practice medicine & can't wait to attend The Hillbilly Chili Cookoff.

Well, Spottydog, you have exactly the attitude that does real well in these parts.

There are many people scattered all around in the smaller towns and countryside that are comfortable with themselves, and therefore comfortable with the people around them, even if they do "talk real funny" and drive a pickup truck.

You'll find Mountain Home a buffet that you most certainly will not tire of soon.

I get the privilege of being a dissenting vote on Mountain Home. Home school. For real do it or your kid will be a mindless dredge. That school punishes the creative mind. Not openly mind you, but in a behind the scenes sort of secretive way. Im going to come out and say that im 17. And I know some may not even finish reading this now. But I know what im talking about, in this , because I've seen it happen and its happened to me. From 1st grade to high school they are unrelenting. This happens in all schools and is necessary... but to tell the truth I had never contemplated suicide until coming to this school. Im grateful that I lived somewhere else before here. For instance my friends are from moderatley intellgient to one who is nearing post genius levels. He made 5 F's out 8 classes last year. slept in all his classes, because hey he's not gonna live long enough for it to affect him. Scored 30 on his ACT. Without studying and without any real aid from his classes he did this. And yet he has no life in him. The school sucks you dry. It has sucked me dry. I dont know if they will always do this, but they do now.
Heres an example. this works in any school thoough
If you were to walk into a group of 1st graders and ask them something they knew nothing about. what would they do? at least half of them would raise there hands and give the wrong answer. without fear
If you walked into a high school class and asked them a question they absolutely knew and waited for the hands, you might see one. fear of persecution. its ingrained at a young age. that fear of persecution also causes persecution.

In Mountain Home we ahve no control over how things are run. At my old school they tried the I.D badges that mountain home did. it lasted one month and they will never try again. At mountain home the students ahve been beaten to death with the notion that there are rules and peopel above them and that they can never change that. So they don't.
If you want your kid to be a free thinker or jsut want him to make something out of his life and yet remain noble in some way.... dont send hthem to mountain home.
thats all sorry for this rant.
