the health insurance companies have teamed up with the republicans to SCARE YOU into thinking this is socialism. it is not. educate yourselves. i'm not saying democrats are perfect, because they are not. but they don't receive any payouts from the health insurance companies which are scared to death of losing profit and margin with this bill. the republicans do get the payouts and that's why they are so against this bill!!!!
You couldn't be more wrong about no Democrat receiving money from health insurance companies. As a Senator gearing up for a Presidential run, Hillary Clinton was the #2 recipient of donations from the health care industry in that election cycle. She took over $781,000 per this CNN article. Here's an article on Arkansas Democratic House Rep Mike Ross from the Washington Post, another Dem leaning news outlet about how he was lavished with health care industry money, parties, etc. in an effort to buy his vote. For the record, Ross voted NO which is opposite the way the health care companies were trying to get him to vote.

Don't be so naive into thinking only one party takes money from the health care industry and every other industry out there. Take your own advice and educate yourself.

Here's a list of the new taxes contained in the new health care bill that we know of...
Investment income tax
Capital gains tax
Drug company excise tax
Health insurers tax
Medical device tax
Health Savings accounts tax
Tanning salon tax
Health insurer executive's tax
Cadillac tax
$2 tax on every individual insurance policy

All those taxes on health care and medical device companies and executives will be showing up on the bill for your health insurance premiums. It's foolish to think health care companies are going to have their bottom line affected. Actually, it will be a boom in their business because so many new people are being forced to buy their products. The increased investment and capital gains taxes are going to lower the 401(k) and retirement savings accounts of every American annually.

This is absolutely incorrect. There is NO regulation anywhere that states that you must buy auto insurance. What does exist are financial responsibility laws that require you to be financially liable for damage and injury caused by YOUR automobile. You can post a cash bond with the state to guarantee this, but that cash bond would be a direct financial guarantee and it is doubtful that many individuals would have the financial stability that would enable an bonding company to provide the bond at any cost that the individual would want to pay. Hence it is easier, and much cheaper to buy auto insurance.

It is too bad that all the partisan and ignorant hype from both conservatives Republicans and liberal Democrats can't be gotten out of the way. The real issue is that there are so many people who receive health services who do not have the money to pay for them that eventually the entire health CARE industry in the US will fail catastrophically.

And yes, if someone doesn't buy health insurance then they should pay a tax to support themselves if they need medical services for which they can't pay. People need to understand that as we all age, we all become part of the problem. Having health insurance is the only real way that we all can become part of the solution.

The new health insurance law isn't perfect. But it is a start and it is much more than any other administration has done in the interest of all US citizens since social security. Many people may not like President Obama's willingness to exhibit true leadership, but it is a far better example of a presidency than whiney, cowardly bullyism or cheesy scheming philandering.

The new health insurance law will be changed, massaged, modified and hopefully improved over the years. But at least we can finally say that we do have in place the mechanism by which ALL Americans can receive basic health care, and that means that we are finally on the same social development footing of many third world countries.

Anyone got a good recommendation for an alternative provider (Not Mercy HealthCare)?
Call Obama...he earned $5 million last year and has a deep concern for those who cannot keep up with the rising costs of Insurance. His new bill should lower your rates.

You must have wrong information. Last night in Miami Obama stated again that our taxes were not raised by one dime. He also stated that the Tea Party members should be saying "Thank you" to him.

If the IRS Chief is right there is no teeth in the "fine".

Quote:

IRS chief: Buy health insurance or lose your tax refund | The Daily Caller - Breaking News, Opinion, Research, and Entertainment

Speaking at the National Press Club on Monday, Shulman downplayed the IRS’s role in enforcing the recent overhaul of the health insurance industry by claiming the agency would not aggressively target individuals who don’t purchase coverage. He noted that the health-care bill expressly forbids the agency from freezing bank accounts, seizing assets or pursuing criminal charges, but when pressed said the IRS would most likely use tax refund offsets to penalize those that don’t comply with the mandate. The IRS uses refund offsets to collect from individuals that owe the federal government a delinquent debt.

Soooooo... Drop your insurance, adjust your withholdings so you get little or no refund and then when you get sick you can just go get insurance since the insurance company can no longer deny you coverage.

Of course I'm not seriously suggesting that I'm sure no freeloaders will figure this out and take advantage of it.

Sure, he is always telling us the truth about everything. We just got our statement for home owners insurance yesterday, up 61%. Our insurance agent said his health ins went up 66% and another company raised their home ownere ins an average of 73%. Isn't this an exciting time?

Insurance premiums are not taxes. You're blaming Obama because we live in a capitalist country and insurance companies are unregulated?

And if the companies keep raising your rates every year (like they usually do) you'll keep blaming the government?

<Long sigh>

I was going to wade into this, Dave, but my hip boots are not near long enough.

There were justs everal articles out on insurance lobbying money and where it went, and the overwhelming majority of it went to Dems.

When I saw Nancy Peolsi with worried look on her face telling Dems to pass the reform bills even if it cost them re-election............

We've got the money, now fall on your swords, brothers.
