Anyone on here been to the capital of TEHRAN in IRAN?

If so, how was it? Did you like? What did you think of the city? What was it like? What were the people like? Impressions, etc.?

I've never been there, but I watched a documentary on cable TV few days ago (Discovery Chanel) which showed a beaultiful country, beaultiful places, great culture, a nice and friendly people who just want to live their lifes in peace.
All interviewed people said they do not want war with anyone.
This documentary change my mind about Iran and Iranians.

No, but I'd like to go, if they let me in.
I would also love to go to North Korea.
Sometimes "tourism" just isn't enough. Some places are crazy, mysterious and wild, and you simply want to see how life actually IS there...without the aid of the media.

Never been, but know several people who have. All of them, without exception, loved it. They say Tehran is very different from the rest of the country (more liberalized), in Tehran it is easier to speak with people, and actually people there are very eager to talk with westerners. They said hospitality is amazing, people super friendly, etc. I would love to go, if you have the chance you should take it. Have you ever seen any Iranian films? They are great - and you get some snapshots of ordinary Iranian life.

Ive been there once for a short time, Tehran and perhaps some areas of Egypt [Coptic Christian areas] i feel relatively safe at. Not counting the media and its hate spinning of Iran...You dont hear of kidnappings there at all. Some of it may come down to the fact that a decent number of Iranians can pass as Europeans by looks so its possible to blend in in some areas there [if you are white]. Not sticking out is the key. Southern Iran is supposed to be very scenic, but I never went there and Id only go with an escort since you are going out into the sticks where the Iranian version of Hillbillies live [which is probably not a good idea to do alone].
