I, personally, would live in Tokyo because it would be much different than living here in the U.S, so being a person who likes to experience something different, i would live there for a while. Just my preference. Plus, nothing better than Japanese women anyway..haha

Anybody that says tokyo blows nyc out the water is a joke. Take time and realise what your typing. Sure tokyo is better in technology. Cuz thats just what they do over there thats their gimmick. But we would be kidding ourselves to say that tokyo is an overall better city than New York City. Its starting to get outta hand

^ that would be better for "which city is more powerful" not which is better.

NYC is better for tourists because it's cheaper, and it's better for skyscraper addicts. But for most tourists (well most tourists dont even get visa to come to japan since japan is ridiculously strict) Tokyo is much more interesting than NYC. Especially since its a completely different culture.

If we're doing for which city is better for living tokyo wins. Better infrastructure, cleaner, much lower murder rate, one of the best healthcare systems in the world etc etc. Tokyo has also ranked the top city for good food the past 2 years in a row. There isn't really any + in living in NYC over tokyo. Well there are but they mostly have to do with how xenophobic japan is, and how its basically impossible for a westerner to move to tokyo.

Why wouldnt it? People who live in NYC arent part of the UN, people who live in NYC arent all billionaires. We are talking about the average person here. First of all tokyo has the largest economy on earth, and like i said above, comparing standard of living tokyo wins in everything. Crime, health, infrastructure etc.

Japan itself has ranked higher on the human development index than the USA for the past 20 years. Right now japan is 8 and US is 15. Japan over all has a higher standard of living than the US. The same goes for Tokyo vs NYC.

NihonKitty, as always, you are brilliant with your replies. I couldn't have said it any better. You fairly state everything & can back it up.

NYC can't hold a candle to Tokyo in absolutely ANY aspect.

Just incase anyone wanted it. Japan has ranked higher for the past 20 years now. (since late 80s).

According to Mercer study on quality of life Tokyo as a city also ranks higher than NYC. On infrastructure tokyo is ranked #12 in the world (while other japanese cities are in the top 5 like tsukuba and yokohoma which are part of tokyo metro area) and NYC is ranked 32nd.

When it comes to healthcare japan is ranked #2 in the world behind france for preventable deaths. Crime by itself is self explanatory tokyo has a lower crime rate than NYC don't even need to look it up. I dont know what else would make people think tokyo is somehow a worse city for living than NYC.
