During American Colonization - They sent a lot of American Women in the Philippines as English teachers
that is why we have American Standard Education System and learned english.

They teach the Indigenous Filipinos on how to read and speak english. the good thing during american colonial era they teach the Indigenous the english language and didn't change the way they dress or their culture so you'll see a lot of student without shirt and barefooted

There's a lot of Foreign Traders also who decided to built business in the Philippines and you will mostly found them at the street
of Escolta, Manila where a lot of European Traders and some Chinese Merchant. Some of these Merchant or Traders during the Last Vintage of Spain
and American Colonial Era decided to settled and stay in the Philippines. My 4th great-grandfather was one of those traders.

ALTHOUGH, this is kind of personal, but I believe I may have been conceived in the Phillipines as my parents were there doing missionary work probably about 9 months before I was born. I've met some Filipino maids in Singapore of family friends (my mother came from working class roots so her family didn't have a maid). I think originally they were like Indonesians but now a lot of them look more Chinese/SE Asian.

There's a drama-action TV series about our Indigenous Filipino before the Pre-Hispanic.
Entitled "Amaya" - they didn't use any spanish loan words in tagalog. All purely tagalog language.
The main character "Amaya" is Marian Rivera (Filipina with Spanish Descent).
They all based the costume and the settings through history of our Indigenous Filipino "Nobles" or "Maharlikan" Austronesian.
