The russians are no longer communists, they are raw unabated capitalists. Putin if you do the right digging is worth something like 40billion in hidden ownership of gazprom etc. Then there is the other connected fellow that owns the NJ Nets.

HOWEVER, they are still essentially an oligarchy/dictatorship.

Ok, I will rephrase the question; how does Putin's former job title state what economic system Russia has? And how does that job title imply it is a command economy?

Depending on how long and how limited the war is. Right now, my bet is on the MSDF giving a thourough thrashing to the PLAN fleets in the region. I mean, the MSDF has the more modern equipment, training and experience in Blue Water operations due to extensive cooperation with the 7th Fleet. To say the Chinese Navy can defeat them "easily" is ignoring the fact that the MSDF is one of the more powerful naval forces in Asia right now.

As such without PLAN escort, China has no force projection capability which means all that manpower means squat ****. However, if the Chicoms just goes, **** it and just bombards cities, powerplants , vital infrustructure with cruise missles from the 2nd Arty Corps, theres little Japan can do since they can't "attack" to destroy the launch sites. This is where the USFJ would be most useful. We (the US in response to China's aggression) could hit the Three Gorges Dam, which should f**k things up for the Chicoms a bit.
