Yes I am aware there are some big malls in Bangkok, as is the case throughout Asia. Yes due to the limited amount of space the malls tend to grow up rather than out. 9-10 storey malls are not uncommon in Singapore, KL, Jakarta, Manila, Taipei, Hong Kong.etc. Malls in Australia are sprawling too, and often only one level. They have huge parking lots as well. Speaking of that, Australia was one of the first country's where enclosed shopping malls caught on. Chadstone Shopping Centre in Melbourne was opened in 1960, just four years after Southdale in Edina, Minnesota (world's first enclosed shopping mall). It's now the biggest mall in the Southern Hemisphere.
