Both of these countries are rising superpowers, as many call them, but they each still have a long way to go. Which country do you think will become more powerful over time? Do you foresee another Cold War in the future between them both, as there was between the USA and the USSR?
China is obviously the more powerful of the two right now and seems to be growing as fast if not faster than India is currently (in all but population). If you're projecting really far into the future, then it's anyone's guess, but for the near future it's going to be China.
India is too inept and corrupt to be any significant challenge to China for the forseeable future. The one thing about eastern Asian culture, is their highly structural society. With China, especially, that includes a clear vision for the future
Yes, in some ways the CCP were like the heirs to the long dynastic tradition (stretching to at least the Qin). China has had a lot bureaucratic tradition of a very centralised, authoritarian government, so in a way the Communists are nothing new. India has never been totally united and has always been very heterogeneous in language, religion etc.
Let's not forget the caste system in India that helps to keep the country unleashing its true potential, gosh its so horrible, lucky that Balinese Hindus don't follow it as seriously..

Exactly. China, until the European Age of Colonization and increasingly today, was the most advanced society on the planet for most of human history. The Chinese were living in an organized kingdom in houses, while most Europeans were living in huts in disorganized society (outside of the most developed parts of the Roman Empire)
