Hong Kong was interesting as a sort in-between between Mainland China and other parts of East Asia with British and other capital.
Agreed. The route is among the busiest and the best, if not the best, in the whole world. Philippines (and Visayas/Mindanao in that context) are pretty much an outlier from the route. Singapore is also almost always the first international stop for many business travellers to the region. The location of the country is very strategic, and coupled with great economy and security, as well as shielded from the typhoons and earthquakes with no known natural disasters, it deserves its current status.

The problem why other places in the Philippines do not prosper like Manila is because everything is concentrated in Manila. The Government does not do anything to beautify the rest of the Philippines. The Government doesn't even improve the roads. Everything is just focused on Manila. It is not like that in other countries. In Spain, although Madrid is the capital but Barcelona is also very big that you would even think it is also the capital and they also built many things in Valencia.
But in the Philippines, it's all just Manila, Manila , Manila while the rest are not taken care of.

Our place in Northern Luzon also still need a lot of improvement. Government should think outside Manila. I guess Cebu is actually almost same as Manila already. There is still a lot of places to actually concentrate and to improve so people will not just go there because Manila is already crowded. So it's not just Visayas and Mindanao. But anyways, some of our government official just put the fund money through their pockets those greedy officials.

Or put in some population control measures and get rid of the shackles of conservative religious thought. That'd probably help unscrew the Philippines more than anything.

^ Didnt you know, they passed the Reproductive Health Bill, so expect population growth to slow down, it's already been slowing down since 1970, but expect this to be the most dramatic slow down.

Yea, I do know and it was pretty close. I hope it's just one part in getting the ball rolling for a much larger set of reforms for the Philippines and that it sets the stage in making the church even less of a force in the Philippines.

Actually, expelling the American bases is the one that destroyed rest of Luzon's economy, For Luzon to secede and it needs to regain the American bases, kick the communists and shift the capital from Manila to Clark area, I myself wanted Luzon to secede ever since.

I think Vismin can do it on their own.
