Most westerners couldn't tell a Mongolian from a Korean anyway. At least the smaller eyed Koreans.

thats what i always thought. whenever i see russian figureskaters that look asian, i thought they came from regions close to mongolia and/or siberia. but even the western russians, when you look closely at their eyes, have slightly asian-shaped eyelids. they may be caucasian, but i can tell almost immediately by their eyes that they're russian

Even the natives of parts of Western Russia look/looked sort of Asiatic. Europoid Russians began in the Ukraine, and spread west incorporating peoples. There was also gene flow the other way.
