Just noticed that most of the western expats in Dubai, seem to predominately be British citizens. ANy particular attraction there? Is it weather? Is the deep colonial past still lingering, and UAE is still in the thoughts of Brits?

Or is England just the closest english-speaking country, and Dubai's need/interest for internationalization/internationalism, just attract Brits more than others?

(Granted, most of Dubai is filled with SOuth Asians, Southeast Asians, Africans, other Middle Easternerners, Russians, etc. But, of the wealthier western countries, it seems England has the most representation).

It's incredibly expensive to live in the UK and their taxes are also very high. When they work in Dubai, they pay no taxes plus make more money. I've worked the last 10 years internationally in Asia nd the Middle East and worked with tons of Brits becasue of this factor and they speak the universal business language (English) as we do. Dubai is a nice city, easy to get to the UK from, and you can actually have a very nice lifestyle there...these are all factors in why so many Brits working there.
