Travelling isn't just visiting a list of places. Sometimes it's good just to chuck out the list and get beneath the surface of a place, away from the tourists getting to know ordinary nabes and folks.

not high on the list to do, but if you want an eye opener, go see the kowloon walled buildings/apts area...pretty sad...not sure if they renovated this area or not since i haven't been back to hk for over 20yrs, but it was sad to see. they should've just demolished it and build new apartments.

If you're talking about the Kowloon Walled City they demolished it in 1993. It can be seen in the 1989 movie 'Bloodsport'. Now it's a park. I think they need more green space in HK despite the lack of space.

I second Stanley Market. Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park would be good to see. I love visiting the main shopping areas: Central, Causeway Bay, TST, etc. Just hanging out in HK is an adventure in itself!

Lamma Island for some rural, laidback atmosphere from the hustle-bustle of HK.
