I think if viet/kinh haven't been rules by Han-Chinese before they would be absorb into Khmer/cambodian culture too.
The pre Angkor and Angkor civilisations were some of the most developed in Asia - indeed the world - and were heavily influenced by India. The same can be said for say the Ayutthaya Kingdom of southern Thailand and the Burmese kingdoms that fought with them regularly.

The Viet homeland has traditionally only been the northern half of Vietnam. Southern Vietnam was first inhabited by the natives, then the Cham civilisation I believe, which has left surprisingly little imprint on the country. Northern Vietnam has never had much of a Khmer or Cham influence.

Our country Philippines considered All Malay (Austronesians) as friends as we shared a lot of historical ties. But recently Malaysia and Philippines are not in good terms regarding the Sabah issue.

Philippines is a bit different from it's Asian neighbours especially in terms of religion.
I always think Philippines is situated in a wrong location, it's like Israel's place in the middle East.

Sometimes I wonder if you are really a Filipino, because you are not so cultured especially for someone who has a degree

Don't you ever wonder why you always get into an argument here ? That's because you are such a bully. Please be mature enough to comment intelligently.

From what I can tell:

There is tension amongst all the Indochina nations - look at their history amongst themselves.
Malaysia and Indonesia HATE one another for the most part (just watch a footy match involving the two)
Filipinos and Indonesians get along well (from experience and observations from other people)
Tension is rising between the Philippines and Malaysia over Sabah and other issues
Malaysia seems to have gotten into quarrels with most of its neighbors at some point or another

Just my two cents.
