Exactly, Koreans are strong followers of these European brands. Maybe, its just too feminine that when men wears these brands, it just looks so so gayo.

I've been even asking why would a city be considered alpha city when you don't even have a good city planning plus a still backwards transportation system...
The highways, the railways, the airport, the ports, the quality of skyscrapers? and we actually scores better in healthcare despite the lower HDI, the HDI scores were mainly because of people not finishing their education in pursue for work.

Well atleast we don't have the worst airport in Asia :P and the fact we are actually building a brand new one complete with railink (which is also underconstruction). It's not that backward the transportation here, well atleast not for Java, the railway connects to most of the major cities in the islands and also the highway system. Philippines don't really have a good railway network.

I already explained how global city functioned, and as economic center of the country (Indonesia is a big economy), much bigger than Philippines plus the increasing business capital activities that puts it top on the global city chain. Jakarta is also the capital of ASEAN secretariat.

And seriously urban planning? what's so good about the urban planning in Manila anyway? atleast the buildings here were beautiful and i just don't see any way the infrastructure of Manila being better than Jakarta.
Suburb of jakarta do you have int'l airport? (just asking)
Yes NAIA(Manila Int'l Airport) is worst so far, but M.Manila has other Int'l airport options just outside around 40kms. Clark Int'l airport and Subic Bay Int'l Airport.

metro system in metro manila is way better than jakarta. though by traditional train system yours is better.

And one thing. provincial railways in Ph is not that successful because of cheap AIRFARE for domestic airlines. @ sometimes 1Php when it's on Sale.

GDP wise yours is higher of a thousand USD per yr. though Ph minimum wage is higher than yours.

***

Now I guess we need to see the lists of stores instead regarding Signature shops in both cities, as I observed your basis most of the time..

Also, being a Filipino, I see the fancy and love of pinoys for gimmicks than signature clothes. We could compare gimmick places, bars, cafe, concerts, entertainment, etc.. I'm pretty sure M.Manila will go far to that..

Or comparison on condos buildings, and hotels.

just my thought

Hm suburb airport? the airport of Jakarta is located outside town, in Tangerang regency rather than the city actually. If it is whether we have int'l airport or not the answer is obviously a yes.

As for wages, we have lower GINI index aka wealth gap among the rich and poor, also means better wealth distribution.

As for bars, concerts, entertainment, events, we have plenty there is annual Java Jazz for music which is popular even among tourist apperently, the complete list:
Festivals and Events in Jakarta - AngloINFO Jakarta, in Jakarta (Indonesia)

Nightlife and cafes in Blok M, Pantai Indah Kapuk, Kemang, SCBD and quiet a lot actually, who says we have dull entertainment?

Lived in Europe for 10 years, been to different European countries, I assure you they do not have the K pop fashion or any gayish fashion that you are talking about. Very very different.
European men are very simple. Filipino men even dress up more than them.
Korea has their own fashion, so as Japan. Both countries are considered the most fashionable in Asia for both men, and women.

Because of their love for fashion , Korea manufactures loads of clothes, even reaches China.

Well, maybe true for most people wearing ordinary and common fashion brands but try looking at those people particularly men wearing luxurious brands, you'll probably know what I mean.

Look at this.
Or this one
Or better yet this one.

Even this scenes seems to be way below the fashion sense in Manila IMO.

So do you see people using this ?
Even exagerating clothes on the runway are just used on the runway and are not worn anywhere else.

Zara, Massimi Duti, Pull and Bear are the best for men !

Honestly, I dont see anything that Jakarta is way ahead of Manila except for a wider array of luxury brands in general and a a higher GDP and a bit in PPP. Even those economic indicators refer collectively to whole of Indonesia not really Jakarta particularly.

NAIA has T2 and T3 as far as I know, Terminal 1 is the one being tagged as worst airport, but I dont find NAIA bad. It may not be the best for now but definitely not the worst.
