and yeah, singapore has a lot of everything. singapore and hong kong are similar in that they draw a lot of working girls from the surrounding regions.
Have you any experience with the 'working girls' in Singapore? I stayed on Joo Chiat Road, in Katong not far from Paya Lebar MRT, and the place seemed full of Vietnamese girls and KTV bars. I went into one, out of curiosity, and they seem mostly full of local middle aged men.

no, have only been shown around a few places like orchard towers. have plenty of friends who live there and tell me about it tho. but its not my scene by any means, too expensive. if you ever go to zhuhai or changping you'll prolly notice a lot of singaporean guys.

Yeah naturally prostitutes are more expensive in Singapore. I'm not sure if brothels are legal or not (prostitution is, which I find funny since even oral sex is technically illegal, as is male homosexuality) but S'pore as it's redlight districts of course. I'm not surprised, Singaporean guys go all over Asia whoring it up.

I didn't find Macau to have any more or any less than anywhere else in Asia. Tons and tons of prostitution pretty much everywhere in Asia. Maybe what's unique about Macau is that tourists stumble into it accidently, whereas a tourist isn't likely to 'see it' in Japan, Korea, China? Perhaps?

Could be it, escorts and gambling tend to go together. Tourism is a big industry in China but it caters more to locals. Even in Thailand it does, actually, but there's still a lot more aimed at tourists. Macau is one of the more touristic parts of China so it would figure. I think HK has been cleaned up since the days of Suzie Wong though.

lived in hong kong when i was a kid. my favorite city in the world and where i fell in love with asia.

macau is kind of an obligatory visit for me whenever i am nearby. i don't gamble, but my family is involved in the gaming industry (most of them live in vegas), so it is the main city they ask about in my travels. the only city theyre really interested in in asia lol. so if i'm within a couple hour flight and have a few days of free time will usually fly there.

visited zhuhai a few times in 2004-2006. mostly for NSFW reasons. same with dongguan in more recent years.

all the other cities i have just passed through/visited for under a couple days.
What did you think of ZHUHAI?

Also, interesting you mentioned DONGGUAN? What is there? I definitely see it on a map, but wasn't aware it might be a destination itself. FOSHAN as well, for that matter. Impressions?

I think Dongguan is where the South China Mall is, probably most famous for being 99% vacant even when it opened.

I live in the Pearl River Delta. And there are Dongguan , Zhongshan and Foshan.
I personally don't regard Huizhou as in the Pearl River Delta.
Pearl River Delta, located in Central Guangdong, is an economic powerhouse.
It attracts people from all over China and the world for different reasons.
Guangdong is now the most populous province of China.

Here is the general impression of each cities viewed by the people living in the region.
HK- the most international city of Asia, relatively liberal, trade and finance prosper, lots of movies and stars, and all other things outsiders can think of

Shenzhen-relatively stressful city in the region, a mainland version of HK, city with a short history, generally mandarin speaking as opposed to cantonese speaking HK and Guangzhou.

Dongguan- lots of factories and hookers. Mandarin speaking due to large number of low skilled workers from poorer regions of China.

Guangzhou- the main city of Southern China for a history of 2000+ years. Local take pride in Cantonese language and culture. Friction between the Cantonese and people from other parts of China. Lots of africans visible.

Foshan- is divided into a few smaller sub-cities. History is long and local culture is rich. Famous for some local cuisine and southern chinese maritial arts.

Zhonghsan- is similar to Dongguan, factories, some agriculture. Though less population than dongguan.

Zhuhai- is a city with little high rises. Nice coast and many islands. Quiet, not busy.

Macau- gambling, prostituion and tourism, sin city. Used to be run by a "developing" Western European country. Disliked by a lot of Chinese. Better disappear on earth. Is a harm to China.

I liked Macau, actually, I like the Portuguese architecture/culture, plus how it feels a bit more rustic than HK. In fact I didn't gamble at all when I went there and it doesn't interest me at all but I liked Macau. Unlike Vegas it has more depth and history.

I liked it as well, and its hardly 'sin city'. Tons of gorgeous Portuguese architecture and flavour.

It was a very interesting insight of mainland Chinese thinking towards it though. I've never heard the Chinese perspective towards Macau before. It's much different than the international perspective of it.

Westerners would readily think of Bangkok or Manila or somewhere for a good 'sin city'. Macau is quite low on any sin city list. As the casinos are mostly geared towards Chinese, with predominately Chinese gambling games, there is a certain amount of 'repel' towards foreigners with the casinos, and they tend to enjoy the tourist sites more. Perhaps that might be a major difference in perception of the city.
