It was a very interesting insight of mainland Chinese thinking towards it though. I've never heard the Chinese perspective towards Macau before. It's much different than the international perspective of it.

Westerners would readily think of Bangkok or Manila or somewhere for a good 'sin city'. Macau is quite low on any sin city list. As the casinos are mostly geared towards Chinese, with predominately Chinese gambling games, there is a certain amount of 'repel' towards foreigners with the casinos, and they tend to enjoy the tourist sites more. Perhaps that might be a major difference in perception of the city.
I guess there are the obvious comparisons with Vegas, I believe the city which was first given the title 'Sin City.' Traditionally where there was gambling there was prostitution and crime (if gambling itself was not considered a crime). There probably is still a fair amount of prostitution in Macau. I think Vegas' reputation of 'Sin City' is pretty manufactured too. Not I'm saying it's something one should aspire to, but Vegas felt more like a big theme park than any sort of real den of vice. Though I'm sure escorts operate in Vegas, there are no legal brothels and the worst most tourists see are Mexicans handing out those cards. New Orleans seemed seedier with their 'live sex shows'. Plus it's the murder capital of the states... If you mostly equate sex with sin then yes, of course Bangkok will seem more 'sinful' to you than Macau.

True.

But, what I've realized though, is that the entire region has prostitution absolutely everywhere. Sex tourists from Macau and Hong Kong frequently go over to 'Mainland China' because apparently it's even more readily available, etc. Even in the other post, the author wrote that Dongguan is known for its hookers.

Actually, pretty much throughout Asia, 'hookers' and 'prostitution' is the norm. Doesn't matter if its India or South Korea, you'll see them. I don't think Macau has any more or less of them, its just as status quo as anywhere else in Asia when it comes to that. And due to the costs, most sex tourists avoid Macau altogether.

That's true, it's just that they're not on display like in Thailand or the Phils. I remember in China even hotels would have things for escorts you could just ring up from your hotel. In Vietnam, you can probably relate to this, it seems almost every cyclo driver tries to take you somewhere for a little 'boom boom' with some local girls. No doubt it's the same in India, it's just Indian prostitutes blend in more. India also has quite a few transexuals. I feel in Singapore, since the legalisation of prostitution, there might be a rise again in that sort of thing. Walk along Joo Chiat road and it feels like the new Geylang.

Also, interesting you mentioned DONGGUAN? What is there? I definitely see it on a map, but wasn't aware it might be a destination itself. FOSHAN as well, for that matter. Impressions?
To be perfectly honest, I mostly go those dongguan (changping in particular)and zhuhai for hookers. Not any other reason to go to Dongguan, it's a very bland place aside from the fact that it has the highest concentration of working girls in mainland china. Zhuhai is worth checking out even if you aren't into that scene though. Very nice city.

As far as the sex industry in Macau goes, it probably has the best saunas in the world. Sanado, Rio, spa 18, etc are epic. And I think most hobbyists would agree that Macau attracts the best of the best from around asia.

Are they all Chinese, or Asian, or are there girls from elsewhere too?

Primarily PRC girls with a noticeable minority from SE Asia. I've heard E. Euros can be found in a few venues but that is typical for everywhere
