Shuhuan should have talked in Cantonese, lol.
The Taiwanese shows in the 1980s and early 1990s (which I watched as a child) had no dub.

That was good.

Even Sun Li can't use her own voice in Legend of MiYue today.

BTW, lines in dramas are different from daily life conversation. Almost no one talks like that.

If I remember correctly, she's from Beijing and moved to HK when she was a child.

I'm not sure why China is always compared with Korea and Japan. Sure it's in Asia and its population is mostly Asian but China is like way too big and isn't a fair comparison. To gauge something like China, countries like India, Russia and probably Brazil need to be used.

Compared against these larger countries, you can probably state that China is somewhere middle, nowhere near as advanced as USA and Russia but probably a bit better than India and to some extent -Brazil.

China being a large country both in it's past and present form has always had to deal with different ethnic groups, a large land mass and almost always sought to lead until the 1800s. South Korea and Japan being much more homogenous and smaller have always sought to incorporate the best ideas/methods from around the world when possible and localising the idea to some extent.

Russia advanced? Russians are **** poor, the corruption is horrifying, and the economy is completely dependent on resources. While China is certainly not any better in the inequality and corruption department, at least most Chinese people in the cities live an OK life and the economy is very diverse.

I also really doubt that the infrastructure is any better in Russia than in China. China has lots of high speed rails and metro lines, while most of Russia is basically the middle of nowhere, and cold as ****. I also heard that there's this online ordering thing in China, which is said to be very convenient and 'advanced'.

Personally, I consider China to be a disgusting ****hole, but Russia is even worse, except for some gorgeous architecture, abundance of artistic contribution (Tolstoy, Chekhov, Tchaikovsky etc.), and the fact that it only bullies its European neighbours so it doesn't concern me. Russia does interest me a lot more from the standpoint of a tourist though.

And people compare China, Korea, and Japan because these are the three East Asian countries that have the most presence in the Western world, and they do share quite a lot of cultural similarities such as diet (rice and chopsticks), the 'model minority' perception, facial features, value system (e.g. rote education, filial piety) etc. India is considered to be a gang of its own, Russia is European, and Brazil is part of the West, it's quite natural that they are never being compared to one another other than under the BRIC context...which is pretty much down the drain as the B and the R are under some disastrous economic turmoil.

Russian *is* advanced in terms of aerospace, military, nuclear power - mainly the heavy industries.

China still imports a lot of Russian tech to reverse engineer. Granted, not as much as it did pre 2000s, but still a heck of a lot of second grade military equipment.

It's just that they never really put any effort into light industries. The Russians have the talent and education system that produces decent technology but they fail miserably to market and commercialise it. They also don't stand much of a chance when you compare them to their Western/Japanese products

Russia does look second rate when you compare it to the USA and Western Europe of course, but still, they are ahead of China. The only real area where I think China is on par with Russia is probably train technology. The rest above mentioned industries, I think they are 5-15 years behind the Russians and 10-30 behind USA/Western Europe.

Infrastructure may be worse in Russia, but only as you move out towards the undeveloped and largely still open Siberia....where it's way too spread out and there are cities too widespread apart.

IT industry in China is more advanced too.
Huawei, ZTE etc. are all influential IT companies in spite of resistance from the west (especially the US).

Many people in China and Korea want to leave their countries for better countries.

Most Japanese people do not want to move to another country.

People leave their country not ONLY for a better life. In fact Japanese people are kind of weird because so few move out. Americans and western Europeans all move out more.
