Hello, have a couple questions for you guys as I will be traveling through Thailand and maybe Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam all of July. I have some concerns and hope you guys can address them.

The following questions are for Thailand, north as well as south. But if you guys can answer regarding the other three countries that would be kool too.
1. The weather, I understand it's wet season, but is it bad enough to ruin my vacation? Hot? Humid? Wet? T-shirt? Shorts? Sweater?
2. Is tourism still high during July? Will there be plenty of other people from around the world?
3. Nightlife; we are all in our early 20's and are planning on going out to bars/clubs/parties every night, how is the nightlife in July compared to the other months?

Thank you!

Bangkok - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

July isn't the height of the monsoon/wet season, but expect it to be fairly wet. June-October is definitely the lower season in BKK, although since I went in December I don't know just how much less busy.etc it is then. Nightlife should still be fairly vibrant any time of year. There's the possibility of flooding in the wet season, though, so watch out for that. It can really ruin your travel plans - this happened to me in Vietnam, although it was November. I only researched the stats for HCM and Hanoi which showed that November-December was dry. But alas, I didn't research central VN, and it was the wet season there! Hence I couldn't go to a couple of places I wanted to go to because the roads were flooded out. I'd pre-booked then and everything. So be prepared for that.

If you can help it I would go to Thailand from November to May. At least the central and North I believe.

Bali and Indonesia is the better place to be in July. Opposite monsoon season.

1. Weather. I've been all around SE Asian during the monsoon season though, and sometimes it's just fine. Other days, it rains all day. I wouldn't change your plans at all, although you might want to throw Bali into the equation. But, tons and tons of tourists and activities going on just the same in July. Maybe even more since it's just a popular time to travel.

2. Tourism. Yeah, tourism is still high in July. Plenty of people from all around the world. You'll see tourists absolutely everywhere.

3. Nightlife. Thailand is the nightlife capital of the world. It'll 100% be there, no doubt about it. Laos will have very very very little nightlife at any time of the year. Vietnam will have a little bit though, but nothing on the level of Thailand.

That's debatable, but you'll definitely be entertained, especially if you like fleshly delights. Bangkok is the real sin city, not Vegas.

Shorts and t-shirts are perfect for Vietnam during July...mucho calor! Just make sure to bring a bottle of water everywhere you go. If you're a mosquito magnet like me, just buy Sofella repellent at the local drugstores while there. It doesn't smell or stain. I would buy some Peptol Bismol tablets to take along the trip. Nightlife is fun there too.

For me thats the appeal of Laos. When you get sick of frenetic Bangkok, of seeing old white guys with their young Thai "girlfriends".. Laos is a welcome escape. I believe it is still illegal for a Laotian to spend the night with a 'farang' so this cuts down on the sex trade.
