In 2019, the first few in the quote remain unchanged.

GDP per capita nominal of China is now close to Malaysia and above Thailand. It has surpassed many countries in the world with similar or higher figures in 1999.
Japan's position fell compared with the past and is now close to South Korea's.
Malaysia is between Taiwan and Thailand.

I know this may be an odd thread, haha...

Without any doubt or solid hesitation in my mind, Taiwan, Hong Kong/Macau, Singapore, Brunei, South Korea, Japan. Not enough options even when I have fair equal preference with Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Is workaholic practical really dominant in Asia compared to mainland Europe? Any relative laziness sure doesn't ever take away the final pay income that people get in a higher amount of countries in the other Continent. Although, poverty still can be avoided without problems in mainland Asia. Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Indonesia, even India have a strong middle class even the other demographics in the mix.
