All I can say is Wow, just wow. What an impressive airport it is! It makes the previous airport seem like it's a hundred years old. I hope the new airport will be a game-changer for international travel to Kolkata ... and maybe, just maybe the rising affluence across Asia is finally beginning to reach this city.

We'll see.

I just read how out of the top 5 airports in the world, 3 are in India (Delhi, Bombay and Hyderabad)

According to whom?

I usually see the likes of Incheon/Changi/Riyadh airport in the top 5, never heard of any Indian cities being there.

i was in mumbai international in december. it's crap unless that's considered a gold standard in 3rd world asia or something. once you see american or some european or arab airports, everything else sucks.

Hong Kong, Incheon, Changi, KLIA, Tokyo-Haneda, Osaka are all among the best in the world.

The best airports are in East Asia, my friend.

Consistently topping the charts: Singapore, HK, Seoul, Tokyo, and even KL and Bangkok.

Changi Singapore was just ranked world's best airport for the 4th time in 14 years:

Mumbai is an old airport. I've know I've been through there, and it's crap. Kolkata is brand new and much more impressive. It started regular service just last month. I wish I took some pictures of it.

Haneda only has 17 international destinations, how can it be one of the best airports in the world?
