True.

I agree.

Jobs. China has almost no regulation or qualifications demanded whatsoever for english teachers, and anyone who isn't Asian, they assume can teach English. So, they hire pretty much any white guy with a pulse (and the occassional black guy, mexican-american or whatever else...but mostly white).

China therefore attracts a lot of dregs of western society, who get a free apartment, a salary, and a work environment where they come in contact with a lot of young females.

Since China is so huge, and they pay so poorly, the demand is incredibly large. There is also a demand for english teachers in other places, like Japan and Korea, but they attract more qualified, they pay much better, and they require more background checks and education. So, it drives more dregs to bypass Japan and Korea in favor of China.

The Philippines has very very very few teaching jobs like that. Filipinos don't have the money or desire or need to pay foreigners higher salaries to teach them English. Thailand has loads and loads and loads of backpackers, who turn to teaching though, but the country is so much smaller than China, and therefore the demand is so much less. Plus they pay you so little in Thailand, that you can hardly survive on your teaching salary.

In China, they also pay low, but it's actually good in relation to the economy in China. You get around $600-$800 month in China...but with a free apartment....that same teacher can use all that money for 'beer money' and 'cheap food'...and basically have a very active dating life as a novelty white person among a million chinese females. Thailand pays more like $500/month, usually without housing, and it's much easier to spend a lot more money there than mainland China.

Seriously, why would someone want to relocate to a third world country on a volunteering basic? Either big money or easy chicks.

Adventure !

That's why teachers in China are always moving.. Usually after 2 years they leave and go to another country or go back to their own country.

In the Philippines if it is to work at the British school you get 3, 165 Euros a month plus housing in a real house with garden, annual trip and insurance. It is already a good salary in the Philippines but it is mostly taken by married men already and the jobs are limited because most of them get adjusted right away in the Philippines because there is no language barrier and lifestyle is similar to the West so teachers usually stay.

as far as china goes, i just wanted to point out that ESL teachers only make a small percentage of expats in the country. gets all the attention because it's entry level with high turn over rate(so more ppl with stories), but most expats work in other fields.

I know a few expats and business owners in China who are making good money. Most of them are in their late 30s or early 40s.

BTW most parts of China have a bad climate.
Beijing and Shanghai are both bitterly cold in the winter, but hot and humid in the summer.
Guangzhou and Hong Kong have long, humid summers too.

I would guess that any part of China or Asia is easy for the white man, I have been to Shanghai and Hk both these places its very common to see white male/Chinese female relationships. Which is the best city well not sure but I would say you have easy pickings in them all.

In China, the best women (looking + education + family background) do not date white guys. However there are plenty of women in China who are willing to sleep with just anyone too.
Not sure about other Asian countries.

Dating white guys do not mean they sleep with anyone.

Many Chinese women expect to end up with a Chinese guy, but then stumble over a western guy that they fall in love with.

It just happens, you never know where life is going to take you.

That is definitely not true (the dating part, especially--marriage is a bit trickier). Dating is also a fairly different concept from "willing to sleep with just anyone,"
