What makes you think people in India are also not enlightened, educated, affluent, open to cultures, etc? There are 1.2 billion people stuffed into a country 1/3 the size of the US, and the weather is mostly too hot and too dry. It's also surrounded by hostile neighbors, is home to 14 major languages, and has tens of millions of followers of all the world's major religions. Its also been a stable democracy for almost 70 years following hundreds of years of rapacious invasions. Considering the circumstances, I'd say India has done ok

So that class background tends to come with a nod to how important education et al is.

I am not a sociologist, my background is in IR, but that's a possible factor.
That's true. Pakistani people are mostly concerned with spreading negative information about India.

Yeah I have noticed very often. It's almost as if they have nothing better to do. Someone needs to tell them to get a life.

You have no evidence that any group does such things more then any other.

Its a legitimate news story from the WB. I think poverty anywhere is very sad. I wish all poor folk can escape their bad situation.

A better birth control program and less antagonistic relations with its neighbors (especially Pakistan) would probably do wonders.

Actually there is growing evidence. Look at the garbage that is taught in Pakistan Schools? The students from a young age are thought to hate India.
