This is racist. Also, it's extraordinarily accurate from what friends tell me.

It wasn't as funny as i hoped, and not because i'm offended by it (i'm not). I've seen funnier videos of this type. My mum wasn't like this at all.

I think I could identify more with the Asian moms video than the Filipino moms one. Most Filipino moms in the US seem to be materialistic, extroverted, and dramatic. So basically like a teenage girl. My mom isn't. She's more of the traditional, hard-working immigrant mom.

My mum was from a working class Singaporean family, but was English educated and grew up speaking and was English-schooled unlike a lot of the working class Singaporeans of her age so she's a bit more Western. She worked hard to become a doctor because she wanted to help people, but never pushed us academically all that much, I think she just wanted us to be happy and generally good people.

Are you Singaporean-Chinese or Singapore-Malay?

My mom is just like that. Got to love the blunt criticism. Unfortunately there's no "a face only a mother could love" mentality in some Asian parents and they will freely offer to pay for your plastic surgery for certain facial features that you yourself don't find problem with.

Singapore-Chinese. Grandmother still speaks only Hokkien.

Actually I should say that technically the public school system in Singapore has always been in English but there are Chinese-medium schools as you would know.
