What this is all about? Indonesia is a huge country that has west Europe size and 270 million people. No wonder we have many types of people here. From yellow light skin until black skin. Western part more likely people from south east asia. In general they have complex light skin from very light yellow or chinese appearance into darker brown skin. Original Eastern part Indonesians have Austronesian appearance (black skin and curl hair). Indonesian Chinese descent off course have chinese appearance. They are about 3-4% of Indonesian people. Some very small percentage (below 1%) is euro asia due to European colonizations for some hundred years. The all varieties kind of people here are reflected on our motto " Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" or Unity in Diversity. For us we do not care what skin type we are since we are one. Some woman prefer to have lighter skin but not for the man. As A man we prefer to have darker skin since it is symbol of masculinity :-).
I though Indonesia was a mixture of different race ( chinese and oboriginal indonesians).
Indonesian Celebrities are people who reflect beauty standards and done plastic surgeries, i dont think indonesians in general looks chinese. China is a big mixture of different race by the way
some looked like they are mixed race with Chinese, but they never look Chinese unless they are ethnic Chinese
No. It's not true. Many original people in Indonesia especially western part look like Chinese but off course it is not majority (majority is brown on western part and black on eastern part). But again, it is a country with 270 million people so it is ridiculous to just simplify that non chinese descent people never look chinese. Perhaps if you go to one isolated village in the remote area that have only 30 inhabitants than your statement has possibility true :-). Some photos does not reflect these hundreds million physical appearance. However with the internet advance just googling Indonesian face than you can find many types of indonesian people there.
You're right. Indonesia in general does not look like Chinese. In minor percentage we have some original people look like chinese. But minor compared to hundreds million means a lot :-). If I can say 5% original Indonesian people look like chinese it means 15 million people. The celebrities since they are rare people, the producers tend to recruit lighter skin people and it is not difficult again due to our hundreds million people population. It is not because of surgery. Usually they prefer to choose people with caucasoid/middle east face that as I mentioned before we have eurasian people not more than 1 % or not more than 2 million people (!) . No surgeries action involved to get these people. Already a lot. :-)
She is. She absolutely loves Japanese and Chinese lighter skin, sees that as greatly superior, and is trying to convince all of us that Indonesians are as light (and therefore as superior)...and should be recognized as such.
In short, it's weird! But typical in Asia, to have that obsession with having white skin.
