Our city's airport (SSK II Pekanbaru) used to feel too small until the new building opened back in 2012.

The last time I was in Manila's airport was 2011. It was the same as 2008 and 2009. I was not disappointed. I don't go to airports with high expectations. Cebu has improved their airport some. This month will be my first visit to Narita Airport in Japan. I have not visited many Airports, but I liked the one in Hong Kong and South Korea.

Manila airport is moving in a very slow phase. For us, the traffic is going in and out of NAIA is the bigger problem than the airport itself.

NAIA Expressway is nearing its completion. An elevated expressway connecting all the 3 terminals.
NAIA Terminal face-lifting is also undergoing. Well, it won't make the terminal fancy but at least, it will be cleaner and better functioning facilities.

The long term goal is to SHUTDOWN NAIA and have a dual gateway, one is Clark serving the North and Sangley serving the Metropolitan Manila and Southern Tagalog.

Kuala Lumpur

There's not much to so once you are past security. Other than that it is a decent enough airport.

HKG added to the list because it became an airport ruled by hundreds of violent youths and illegal protestors sitting and standing everywhere obstructing passengers boarding the planes.

That's over with now. Doesn't change the fact that it's generally a well-run airport when you take out such events. Bangkok also experienced protestors shutting down their international airport several years ago.

I was disappointed by HKG a few years ago. Just didn't see the smiling faces and good duty free I was expecting. PEK was actually more hospitable with dollar beers and a free shower, but the planes are Soo old. China Air has terrible food, too, and they own a big chunk of Cathay.

security procedure is atrocious though. xray machine to step inside the terminal?

The last time that I went through was just after that Indonesian Jihadist family did their bombing attacks. We had to clear to get into the building, again from the check in to the waiting terminal and once again to board the aircraft.
In a land where security guards have to make a check at shopping malls as a matter of SOP because of the ISIS affiliates and NPA general threat pushing the first line of defense to outside of the building seems prudent
