I am so proud of ISRO's achievement today for the successful launch of a rocket with an unmanned probe to the earths outer orbit. I really hope this mission proceeds well and India is able to land a probe on mars. The rocket's name is Mangalyaan

As an Engineer of Indian Origin, all I can say is, JAI HIND

Here is a link which talks about the achievement:

50% of all Mars missions have failed, I'd hold off on celebrating until that sucker starts sending data back. Using Earth's gravitational field as a sling is fairly ingenuitive.

Still, it's a pretty great feat for an up and coming space power. It's not exactly cutting edge, but it leads the way to more projects. There are relatively few countries doing launches to increase our knowledge of space--I'd say this is a fantastic move in the right direction. I'd love to see more scientific missions being launched by the rising space powers in Asia.
