I haven't been! I've done very little exploring in the greater Metro region. Basically whenever I've stayed in KL, I've always end up in either Bukit Bintang or Chinatown. Right in the city, basically.

Coming in from the AirAsia Airport, I always marvel at all the interesting terraced houses everywhere. I dont know what other people think of them, but I find them quite beautiful to look at.

I also like that green jungle feel that you just get everywhere in Malaysia. Quite a contrast from Thailand, where the moment you cross the border, there is a consistently 'brown' feel to the landscape with significantly less green foilage on the Thai side, comparitively.

You should check it out. I mean the area in general...you'd probably need a car living there though, since KL's public transit isn't on the same level as Singapore or Hong Kong, and the metro area does sprawl a bit.

Yes, Malaysia is more forested, though it's sad to see the logging that's going on . Most of Thailand's rainforest is long gone, virgin or secondary. Malaysia's climate is also equatorial compared to Thailand's more savanna/monsoon climate - in other words, most of the country is wet all year round with no real dry season, making it very lush.

I just found a website with Malaysia Real Estate: Bandar Bukit Raja For Sale in Klang (Page 5)

I just wanted to get a feel for 'generic' Metro KL. So, went to Klang, assuming it would be cheaper and affordable than KL itself. However, the majority of houses seem to be in the 500,000 Ringit to 1,000,000 Ringgit range. Which is basically $ US 150,000- $US 300,000.

Does that sound about right? Or am I just way off-base with the housing costs? (Seems way out of proportion with what people actually earn there).

Sorry I don't know about prices and whatnot, or what the real estate market is like.
