Then again the PLA incorporated Tibet in 1959, which is a long time ago. It may be more recent than what America did 200 years ago, but if you say China has to give up Tibet why shouldn't the US give up it's land? Chinese have settled in Tibet too. I am definitely against the Chinese eroding Tibetan culture and I hope the Han don't flood it and the PRC actually respect's it's 'autonomy', and if a workable system of independence happens great, but as I see it, and given Tibet's history, I don't see the occupation quite the way the 'Free Tibet' movement portrays it. In other words, why should China give back Tibet if other nations aren't willing to give back the land they 'stole' too?

Without some kind of universal rules, then all of these laws and acting civilized are meaningless. You might as well say that we should start killing babies, because hey, they're weak, and we're strong, so we can just kill them right?
LOL

The Europeans, since when the Europeans become the judge of moral standard? Why doesn't France leave the French Polynesia alone? Why doesn't Britain leave Falkland alone?

The Europeans had the most cruel and appalling history of taking land from other nations, including China, now they get to decide such matters?

The Europeans have no power to "step in" and say anything. They should worry about their wobbling economy and huge deficits first.

You want some kind of "universal rules"? When a western says "universal", it usually mean some sort of "western-centric" ideology, isn't it?

If the Europeans hadn't conquered America, the Nazis and the Japanese probably would have wiped you out. The fact is that while killing the Indians was bad, it was pretty much a necessary evil(and either the Nazis or Japanese would have wiped out the Indians eventually anyway). The important thing is that right now they're trying to do good, while China is still stuck in this colonial mentality.

You could say that the Europeans have at least done some good things to atone for their mistakes. On the other hand, have China done anything except being bullied by smaller nations and taking smaller nations' lands(just because you failed in taking Vietnam doesn't mean that you weren't trying to?) Try doing something heroic once in your life, instead of all this land-grabbing.

wow, you seriously failed high school history, didn't you? I don't even know where to begin shredding the garbage you just spewed.

You move from being a China basher to a genocidal apologist to a nazi supporter....wow!

Tibet and China have had a very twisted history with each other.

China has always been a multi-national country, since the very beginning.

Common Tibetan people (not just the "monks") want to keep their cultural identity, but they do not really pursue "independence".

Japan became industrialized largely because of America.
Even in the early phase of WWII, the US traded with Japan.

Well, the "small countries" do not show enough respect to China either.
Suppose China is America or Russia, do you think Vietnam, Japan, and the Philippines still dare have a "dispute" with China? They know (1) China is basically peaceful and (2) America will help them.

If we are to talk about Tibet independence, then I think the people of Okinawa and the whole Ryukyu island chain should be given independence. They were annexed by Japan in the 1800's, and much of their culture have been suppressed by Japanese culture.

Ryukyu culture is far closer to Chinese culture than to Japanese culture.
