I'm outraged by this. It is so cruel and I wish there was something we could do about this.

Yes, they do!

It is for meat also, the average slaughter is around 40 per day, this happens between Sept and March each season and going on now!

Actually, there is something we all can do, talk to media (FB, twitter, local, national and international new outlets, look up aquariums on wikipedia, I am appalled at how many so called 'marine parks' are present at the above hunt/slaughter to select dolphins. Caroline Kennedy, our ambassador to Japan, just tweeted her concern and lots of people are doing a media storm on this issue right now)

this is what I found, I hope it's okay to post

every day they go live to document, they can't do anything but report, police and coast guard are watching these activists closely, they have archives too....I think it's after 1:00 pm EST or whenever the 'fishermen' go out Livestream | Sea Shepherd USA

So sad, I started signing every petition out there and tweet and FB my heart out

It is actually NOT "tradition" since they have only been doing it since 1969. There is no legitimate reason for the "harvest" and international pressure needs to be applied.

You can do something by expressing your disgust with your $$$ - stop going to aquariums and sea life parks and tell the folks who run those places WHY you will no longer be attending such places.

There's nothing wrong with it unless the animals in question are endangered. The should bring back fox hunting in England and continue to club baby seals in Canada as well! I'd actually be interested in doing some whaling the old fashioned way with a non-endangered species purely for sport.

And that is exactly what is wrong. Hunting another animal - another thinking, feeling, highly intelligent mammal that lives in a sophisticated social structure - instilling absolute terror and then a horribly painful death on that animal for sport. Disgusting. We have evolved beyond this now.
