I've always been fascinated by the Negroid people in certain pockets of Asia. Obviously, they are predominate in places like the Andaman Islands and Papua New Guinea but there are also some in the Philipines, India and Indonesia.

They have many of the same physical features found in Africans, e.g. frizzy hair, very dark skin, broad nose, thick lips, etc. but they are Asian in origin and most likely, the original inhabitants of South East Asia.

They are not negroid, sometimes referred to as negritos. They're actually among the MOST DISTANT people genetically from Africans. Caucasoids and Mongoloids are closer to Africans than they. I would say Papuans and Melanesians are sort of different but related. But yes, they're interesting, and sadly getting rarer throughout much of their range.

I've met some in the Philippines. They're culturally identical to regular Filipinos and they speak lowland languages.

These are the only "native" peoples of Asia that would come close to qualify as being "Black," at least as far as I'm aware. I say come close as race in the Western sense only exists... in the West. Most of them are Sufi Muslims, and they are more or less integrated into Indian society even though they have retained some African customs.

Black Asians come in all shapes and sizes. All "black" Asians are not negritoes. Indians are black Asians and certainly aren't negritoes. Australians are black Asians and certainly aren't negritoes and neither are Pacific Islanders.

The reason there are blacks in Asia is the same reason there are blacks in Africa: the tropical environment. And the fact that all humans originate in tropical environments also means there have been black people in Asia longer than any other type of people. And it is from that population that all Asian features originate, including straight hair and everything else.

Orang Asli from Malaysia, they certainly do not have the same facial structure/features as Africans.

Black and white are sort of silly terms to begin with, but usually 'black' means African, although aborigines are (though less commonly) sometimes called blacks or 'blackfellas.'

But yeah it's just like 'convergent adaptation' or evolution. Most tropical peoples tend to be darker than those in colder environments.

Black is only a color reference not a geography. If anything, black in terms of skin color means tropically adapted. And since Africa straddles the tropics the people are black, just like any other population in tropical environments, which includes the ancestors of all humans. Humans adapt to their environment which is the basis for all diversity. In an Eastern cosmological context god the infinite source of all things is the infinite origin of all manifestations in creation and the forces of nature in the universe are a reflection of this. And through the interactions and power of the elements come all aspects of life as we know it including all shapes and variations of man himself. Hence in a cosmological context god can be jet black symbolizing the infinite inner hidden mystery of the universe or white representing the light or outward manifestation of the inner mystery and all colors of the spectrum and rainbow between those two are simply reflections of that same divine essence.
