Hi guys

I have lived in several big cities before including NYC, Chicago, Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, Rome and Amsterdam. Could anyone give me helpful insight about which city would suit more to an adventurous mid 20s guy, expecting to teach English in either of the 2 cities. Japanese have never really been the most sympathetic people to me but I hear they have one great city. On the other hand I really got to like the russian mentality with their humor and laid-back attitude from the times I have communicated with them. Any comments are greatly appreciated......

If you don't like Japanese people or Asian culture, you should go with Moscow.

The majority of people going to Japan, are people that like Japan and Japanese culture. If you aren't interested, why bother? (I'm also referring to your other post that mentioned you had no interest in Asia, and it sounds like you are already predisposed a bit to be down on Japanese people).

Personally I prefer Tokyo and Japanese people. I wouldn't enjoy Moscow and Russian people.

But from your previous posts and this post, it sounds like you'd prefer Russian people. Just because you heard Tokyo is one great city, doesn't mean you'd enjoy it, especially if you prefer Russian people over Japanese people.

I would choose Japan myself, but I have more interest in Japanese culture than Russian culture. It really depends on what you want.

Well I learned Japanese in school, and we learned about the culture.etc, watched videos.etc which I think first sparked my interest in Japan. I find SOME aspects of the culture really appealing, like how they're harmonious, polite, their dedication to their craft, Zen principles, tradition, yet there are also bad sides like overt conformity sometimes and social alienation, an obsession with honour (moreso with the older generation). I love the Japanese countryside, find the cities fascinating, like most of the food, and like the few anime films I've seen (mostly Studio Ghibli). I just like how it seems like a world unto itself.

I know less about Russian culture, but tbh from what I know it doesn't appeal as much to me. The women are beautiful though haha. I also hear there's a lot of crime and xenophobia in Moscow.
