Surely there must be a great deal of expenses involved in this massive search.. But who is bearing the cost and the expenses ??

Malaysia airlines, Malaysia government ??

For all the other countries that helped, are the expenses borne by their respective governments ??

I know the lives are more important, but money is too as wel

Well it looks like MH370 is at the top of the U.S. national news now, with the Ukraine crisis becoming 'second place.'

Yup. But nobody's going to bill Malaysia for all that.

Military equipment (assets) are paid indirectly by civilian tax dollars, are they not?

Apart from "who is paying for it" Any estimates on how much is actually being spent? The crews, the equipment, all of this must be costing a lot. I found a news article about how much the US spent up to some date several days ago, but that is a small percentage of the total cost born by every single country involved up to March 25th, today.

they still need to investigate and find out if it was a terrorist act or even possibly shot down , this could be an act of war, maybe it was no accident?

I doubt it was caused by some external cause. The problem started inside with them turning the plane off route and taking it out over the Indian ocean in the middle of nowhere where it was inevitable it would go down. So someone inside there had to have caused it.
