Why is no one preferring Malaysia over Vietnam?

It's personal preference?

Vietnam is arguably much more interesting place to see than Malaysia, more ancient, rustic, less sterile, culturally and historically richer than the too colonial Malaya, while in Vietnam you can have both colonial and ancient heritages. Don't get me wrong the cosmopolitan vibrancy that Malaysia has, the diversity, the modernity and the food are great, but that's the most of the only wow factor when people go to Malaysia.

They're forgetting Malaysia's natural beauty then, which is second only to Indonesia in SEA.

Hmm when it comes to tourism, not alot of people are actually into nature, it is one of the factor but certainly not as major as other factors like culture or ease of travel or price.. Because if they were, tourist would be flocking like mad to biodiversly rich countries brazil, indonesia etc more often or riding camels in Morocco for the sake of desert experience.

But this is just what i feel..

That's true. Eco-tourism is relatively niche...'leisure holidays' are the main thing, even more than cultural holidays.

Vietnam is certainly interesting, but in terms of visitor numbers Malaysia is still no 1 in SEA (yes that includes a lot of Singaporeans, but a lot of say France's tourists come from the many neighbouring countries too).

But the population of singapore didnt really justify the real number of singaporeans who actually went to malaysia for holiday, since most of them just went there to do cheap grocery shopping. Not to mention the number of people who live in johor and work in singapore. The real no 1 most visited country in SEA is Thailand.
